One common (and often confusing) experience in sex and pornography addiction is Sexual Anorexia. This is also referred to as "intimacy avoidance" or "acting in".*
Some sex addicts might go months, years, or even decades without physical sexual contact with another human being. I've done this myself, in order to convince myself of the delusion that I am not a sex addict. "How can I be a sex addict if I'm not having sex?" - or so the confused logic goes.
I hope the resources below will be helpful in answering that question, as well as others.
*(side note: I am not a fan of the term "acting in" as it seems to give false equivalency to "acting out."
I experience the two, and the harms they cause to others, very differently.)
These are from SAA, and can be quite helpful for understanding more about this part of the disease.
