I got inspiration one day from my HP, where this exact image popped into my head.
After making it, I realized it is very reminiscent of the 1940's Americana art style, which is very fitting, since that was the peak recovery rate time that SAAPP seeks to replicate! It's also a fun aesthetic.

This is the most famous 12-Step painting ever made.
The original is kept
at the historic home of AA co-founder and Al-Anon founder Bill W. and Lois W. It is said to have been painted by Robert M. and was submitted anonymously to the AA Newspaper, The Grapevine in the 1950's.

Honestly, I want to cry when I look at this painting. Only another addict can understand the degredation and powerlessness of a disease that tortures us the way addiction does. And this painter "gets it".
This is a depiction of the historic meeting when Bill W. and Dr. Bob (AA co-founders) successfully carried the message of recovery to Bill D. (AA #3) at Akron Hospital.
All 3 were hopeless low-bottom alcoholics destined to die a miserable death. Through working early versions of the 12 Steps, all the 3 became sober and remained that way until they died.

In Akron, Ohio (USA) at the office of the first AA meeting, there is a beautiful stained glass winder recreation of this wonderful painting. Oldtimer members donated their multi-year sobriety medalions to encrust its frame.
