It is commonly misunderstood that sex addiction is something which must be healed in isolation from the family or relational unit, but this is not always the case.
Partners and family members who also seek recovery for themselves seem to experience a much greater degree of happiness and stability, either with or without the sex addict continuing in their life.
They are a great resource for betrayed partners, children, and couples working to repair their relationship, marriage, or just heal.
I see a lot more successful couples in program who go to COSA meetings and have a couples counselor, than those that don't.
COSA also has a few meetings called "HIR" where sex addicts are welcome to attend, although the rules differ from SAA sometimes.
It's best to contact the host and be on best behavior for these meetings if you are a fellow sex addict. I view attendance as service work, as it has been rewarding answering questions and sharing what this disease is like. It's nice to be helpful to couples working through it.
