Are you new to 12 Step recovery meetings for
pornography or sex addiction?
You are in the right place.
Coming to a meeting for the first time can be scary and overwhelming.
We almost always end up here under horrible circumstances. We lost a job, were discovered by a betrayed partner, were arrested, or got erectile disfunction.
I had spent decades of hard work keeping my addiction a secret. I believed I would 'take this secret to the grave.'
The idea of sharing with others was preposterous; how could that help?
Fortunately, through sheer desperation, my denial cracked, and I was finally willing to come out of the shadows.
I had to admit that 'I was whooped' (as one fellow puts it), and that my life was a wreck. I had no other choice.
You can read about it more in My Story
Here are some resources that might make your journey a bit easier. These are all the things that would have helped me when I first showed up. I hope they are useful!

It is recommended to get a sponsor as soon as possible when coming to SAA (or any 12 Step program, really).
However, sponsors can be harder to come by in S-fellowships than in other 12 Step programs.
Here are some tips to help in your search:
Remember that sponsors are unpaid and non-professional. If you are asking for their time to help you, be humble and work around their schedule. They are doing you and me a solid by supporting our recovery in this individual way. Stay persistent and reach out to multiple sponsors at a time - it takes dedication, but it will work out if ya keep coming back :)
